Location: Loch Lomond
Project: Category A Listed House Renovation & Extension

Overlooking Ben Lomond on the shores of Loch Lomond, Stuckgowan House is an early nineteenth-century Tudor-Gothic residence occupying an exceptional setting within the Loch Lomond landscape.

The project involved the complete refurbishment of a tired and partially derelict Category A listed building together with carefully integrated new additions. Working closely with the natural topography, the design sought to preserve the architectural character and prominence of the original house while strengthening its relationship with the surrounding landscape.

A new terrace and concealed garage extension were embedded within the sloping site to minimise visual impact. Extending across the garage roof, the terrace creates a dramatic outdoor space with panoramic views across Loch Lomond towards Ben Lomond, while a new opening formed within an existing window bay improves movement between the house and its setting.

Internally, the property was comprehensively renovated, including a remodelled kitchen, cinema room, gym and extensive restoration works throughout. The result is a carefully renewed family home that balances modern living with the preservation of an important historic building.
