Eaglesham Conservation area, Low energy House , East renfrewshire
We utilised traditional forms, heritage materials and carefully balanced massing to create this low-energy contemporary home inspired by the Scottish steading. Set within the Eaglesham Conservation Area, the house sits quietly yet proud between its neighbours, establishing a discreet identity of its own. Combining agricultural simplicity, conservation sensitivity and contemporary detailing, the design is calm, confident and composed for modern family gathering.
Arranged around a private south-facing courtyard, the dwelling provides privacy from the public frontage while establishing a strong connection to the surrounding south landscape. Its carefully composed form reinforces the character of the conservation area through a restrained and contemporary architectural language.
Designed as a high-performance lifetime home, the project features a highly insulated building envelope, photovoltaic solar panels, an air source heat pump and high-performance glazing to deliver exceptional levels of comfort and energy efficiency. At the time of publication, the building is nearing completion with courtyard works beginning.
