Contemporary Renovation & Extension

A carefully composed renovation and extension that transforms a regular suburban house into a bright, contemporary family home.

The project reimagines the relationship between the house, garden and landscape through a bold yet restrained architectural intervention. A simple dark-clad pavilion projects from the existing white rendered dwelling, creating a striking contrast while remaining subservient to the original building.

Internally, the extension delivers a light-filled open-plan kitchen, dining and living space centred around a dramatic rooflight and expansive glazing. South-facing openings draw natural light deep into the plan, strengthening the connection to the elevated terrace and garden beyond. The result is a calm, contemporary interior that feels spacious, social and effortlessly connected to its surroundings.

Careful attention was given to proportion, materiality and detail. The interplay of dark cladding, white render and large areas of glazing creates a crisp architectural composition with a strong sense of identity. Sustainability measures, improved thermal performance and enhanced daylighting ensure the home performs as well as it looks.
