A compact yet highly functional garden studio designed as a professional designer’s workspace within the grounds of a Victorian home in Langbank.

Positioned to engage with the surrounding garden, the studio provides a multitude of uses however is primarily designed as a calm, focused environment for design work while maintaining a strong connection to nature.
The project was deliberately conceived as a simple, low-impact structure that can be easliy demountable and “touches the earth lightly”. In most circumstances, a garden studio of this scale can be constructed without the need for planning permission, while the modest floor area meant a formal Building Warrant was not required. Nevertheless, the building was designed and constructed to standrds expected of a permanent dwelling, ensuring high levels of comfort, durability and energy performance.
Though modest in scale, the project embodies the same principles that underpin all of our work: thoughtful design, efficient planning and meticulous attention to detail.
