Yettholm Planning Approved Green Belt Replacement Dwelling
Yettholm is a high-performance SIPS home designed for low-energy, low-maintenance living within a sensitive South Lanarkshire Green Belt setting.
Positioned proud yet modestly on the brow of the hill, the five-bedroom house combines black metal cladding and natural stone to create a restrained yet confident architectural form. Approved at Local Review, the design sits comfortably within the landscape while capturing expansive views across the surrounding countryside.
The open-plan living spaces extend naturally onto a generous terrace, allowing everyday family life and entertaining to flow seamlessly outdoors while overlooking the rolling landscape.
The planning-approved design is based on the principles of lifetime living. The house integrates photovoltaic solar panels, high-performance insulation, airtight construction and renewable energy technologies to minimise operational carbon and reduce long-term running costs. The ambition is to create a net-positive home capable of generating more energy than it consumes over the course of a year.
The images below illustrate the early concept sketches that established the core design principles and spatial ideas, forming the foundation of the final proposal.
